From the book Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life in the Mafia by Joseph Pistone
An FBI man undercover getting evidence against Mafia guys gets too involved.
This is not only an interesting movie on its own, but the two main characters are played by Serious Honey Johnny Depp and Not A Honey But A Damn Fine Actor Al Pacino. What more do you need?
I rented this movie simply because I’m trying to work my way through Mr. Depp’s oeuvre and this was on my list…but it was a good choice, Mr. Otter and I both enjoyed it. Good characters, good interaction, and a nice tight plot, not a lot of wasted screen time. One of the best things Pacino has ever done, worth seeing just for his performance. Not to mention Johnny Depp, what an amazing actor. He can really do ANYTHING well…even in the suckiest movies like From Hell and Ninth Gate HE’s good, no matter how bad the rest of the movie is.
And of course, I loved all the 70s music, 1978, what a great year. Takes me back to when I was a young otter, very nice!
See this one, it’s well worth the time you’ll spend.
