The Full Monty

The Internet Movie Database       Movie Reviews

Six unemployed British steel workers decide to put on a strip show to earn extra money. The two major questions in this film:

  1. Will they actually do the show?
  2. How much will they take off?

Pleasant and charming are two good words for this movie. The characters are authentic, if a bit outre, and one can certainly empathize with them and their plight…especially the guy who takes a job he hates because he needs the money, but then can’t rehearse for the show.

A lesser-known cast adds charm to the story, no big names or well-known faces to distract from a feel-good story about the common man…um…rising above his troubles, so to speak.

The son of one of the dancers really steals the show, reminds me of the cool kid in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert…but the grownups aren’t far behind in the ‘great guy’ sweepstakes here.

A lovely film about just regular working class guys trying to get by.
