A group of expat retirees living in a hotel in Jaipur, India. This is a sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, where evidently the handsome young man who runs the hotel in this movie actually came up with the idea and got the hotel. Now it’s full, they need to expand into another hotel, and there is supposedly a person from a hotel rating organization who will be coming to try them out. There are love stories and hijinks ensue.
This was charming in a ‘I already know everything that’s going to happen and how it’s going to turn out’ kind of way. The light and city scenes were great eye candy, the cast is stellar (Maggie Smith, Judy Dench, Bill Nighy, Richard Gere, David Strathairn) and it’s charming fluff with a nice ending.
Not really engaging, but fun to watch.
